Maternity Bikinis – What to Look For and Why?
Pregnancy is a beautiful journey, and just because you're expecting doesn't mean you can't enjoy a day at the beach or by the pool in style and comfort. While some might think they need to find a special "maternity bikini," the truth is, with the right features, any bikini can be a great fit for moms-to-be. Here’s what to look for and why every bikini can be a maternity bikini.
Comfort is Key 🌺
When you're pregnant, comfort is your best friend. Look for bikinis made from soft, buttery, and stretchy materials that adapt to your changing body. Our eco-friendly swimwear at Tai Swim is crafted from high-quality, recycled fabrics that provide the perfect blend of comfort and support.
Adjustable Features 🔄
Adjustability is a major plus in any bikini, especially when you're pregnant. Bikinis with adjustable straps and ties can accommodate your growing bump and changing shape. Side-tie bottoms like the Tai bottoms, and back-tie bikinis like the Tai Top with adjustable bands offer the flexibility you need during pregnancy. At Tai Swim, we avoid the use of metal hardware that corrodes over time and instead opt to use tying adjustable elements, ensuring a perfect fit at every stage, including after the baby is born!
Supportive Tops 🤱
A supportive bikini top is essential for expectant moms. Look for tops with features like underwire, wide straps, and extra padding like the Jade top for extra support. These elements provide the necessary support and comfort for your growing bust. Our collection includes a variety of supportive tops that combine style and functionality, ensuring you feel secure and confident.
High-Waisted Bottoms 👙
High-waisted bikini bottoms are a great option for pregnant women. They offer extra coverage and support for your belly, making you feel more comfortable and secure. Our high-waisted designs like our Tai Bottom at Tai Swim are not only stylish but also incredibly functional, providing the support you need while flattering your figure.
Embrace the Bump 💕
One of the best things about pregnancy is embracing your beautiful bump. Opt for bikini styles that accentuate rather than hide your belly. While some may prefer one-piece bikinis while expecting, generally two-piece swimsuits are going to be the most comfortable and adjustable. Triangle tops, bandeau styles, and side-tie bottoms can all highlight your bump in a flattering way. Remember, confidence is the best accessory, and our bikinis are designed to make you feel fabulous.

I keep trying to tell my friends this, but EVERY bikini is a maternity bikini. After three pregnancies I just reach for what I can tie or adjust to my body. I think trying to find a swimsuit that “will perfectly morph to your bump” is unrealistic because everybody is different. Just throw a pareo on. I don’t even wear bikini bottoms most of the time if I have my pareo or a cover up….. just need one really comfy top and you are ok. Thanks for the article, also the photographs are beautiful and she looks stunning.
