Kailua and Matcha Summer 2025 by Tai

jk, it does. sharing my pattern inspiration and origin stories with this growing bikini community is the best part of making the things I make. meet summer 2025:

the kailua print is so special. it’s not just about the array of florals that I walk past every day on my way to CPY, — but it’s about my fitness journey as a whole. I’ve been a student of yoga for 11 years. when I moved to new york in 2014 for design school, I found this studio that changed my life. modo yoga nyc — no phones, no distractions, just you and your practice. that was my introduction to the first type of workout that I actually ENJOYED. my body completely transformed and when I dropped out of college and moved back home, I started designing swimwear and activewear that could work with you from beach to barre.

now, walking into my current studio in kailua, it’s wild how full-circle things feel. my favorite instructors, girlies in matching workout sets clutching an iced matcha, the serotonin rush after class, the white hibiscus in front of that weathered cement wall — and one day a few years ago I realized I had to encapsulate this experience into something very real and personal. In a way, it’s extremely simple, but it’s also my everyday view, my grounding space with my community, and my reminder of how far I’ve come.

and now I get to wear these pieces it to class?? still not over that.

I find that I can connect with my designs better when there is a story at the front of it. every hand-drawn line traces back to a real flower, a real place, and a real moment in my life.
