Yoga with Maka at Ka'ala Vista: A Tai Swim Collaboration
Waiālua Retreat Recap — A Day of Movement, Meaning & Aloha
Earlier this year, we had the absolute joy of spending a day in Waiālua with our friend Maka and the incredible team at Ka‘ala Vista, a stunning venue tucked between the mountains and the sea on O‘ahu’s North Shore. Though it’s known as a wedding venue, Ka‘ala Vista transformed into something else that day—a sanctuary for stillness, movement, and connection. From the moment we arrived, it felt like magic. With ocean views, lush greenery, and cool mist rolling in from the mountains, there truly isn’t a place more breathtaking.
Maka led us through a full day of wellness and intentional care, starting with a strong C2 flow, followed by Sculpt, and ending with Mālie Flow—a peaceful, grounded class designed to slow the body and mind. In between, we were nourished with plant-based meals, shared facials and lymphatic massages, and even learned some practical skills in a self-defense workshop. Local brands like Bevy Boss Hawai‘i kept the energy flowing with refreshments, and everything about the day felt supportive, nourishing, and rooted in community.
To mark the day, Tai Swim created an exclusive Waiālua print—a subtle rework of one of our existing prints, recolored just for Maka. We made custom yoga bags, hats, and towels as a one-time gift for those who attended, and named the print Waiālua as a tribute to Maka’s family roots in the area. Like all Tai Swim prints, this one carries a story—and we were honored to share it in such a meaningful space.
We left feeling recharged, grateful, and so excited for what’s next. If you ever get the chance to attend a day like this, don’t think—just go. You’ll leave with more than you came with.
With aloha and endless gratitude—
Tai + Maka
